Slavic Ceremony Traditions

The most important occasion in a Slavic home is the bride meeting, which is usually celebrated in spring, summer or fall. It was a time for celebration ukraine women and pleasure, as it marked the beginning of the new life. Men married after successful activities, sailors held their weddings after a good catch and shepherds tied the knot after the calving period.

Before the wedding ceremony, the wedding is usually given a rushnyk ( a crown with a bridge). Her kids present her with bread and salt and inquire for their grace. They also give the couple ektenias ( a ring ) that symbolizes a slavic marriage and a promise of faithfulness and fidelity. The wedding wears a mask, which she never takes off, except to go to the toilet. It was considered a bad sign to taking off the shroud during the service, and in old times it was typical to condemn a newlywed who did so.

After the meeting the newlyweds walk through the streets of the village, with people throwing grains of corn, sweets and cash for happiness and prosperity. They also stop at nearby shrines and give tribute. The wedding ceremony is supervised by a master of ceremonies called a” Tamada”. He is a loud pal who runs the several competitions.

When the bride leaves her parents ‘ home, she takes with her a shawl that she should keep, not to give away or enable somebody touch. The vicar’s cousins tested the bride by asking her questions and requesting ocean from her. If they placed income on a tray, the wedding would offer them fluids or answers their questions.
